Malta's Minister of Tourism Konrad Mizzi, via his personal Facebook account, reported (10-Jun-2019) the government is in advanced talks with Ryanair regarding the establishment of a Malta based LCC subsidiary entitled 'Malta Air' (tvm.com.mt/The Malta Independent/Times of Malta/Malta Today, 09-Jun-2019). The start up will reportedly take over 61 of Ryanair's Maltese routes operating with a fleet of six aircraft. Mr Mizzi stated: "Once concluded this will be an innovative partnership which forms part of our vision to develop Malta into an aviation hub in the heart of the Mediterranean".
