Melbourne Tullamarine Airport Jan-2021 pax down 80.3%

Melbourne Tullamarine Airport handled (17-Feb-2021) 649,195 passengers in Jan-2021, an 80.3% decline year-on-year. Coronavirus outbreak clusters and the resulting restrictions in New South Wales and Victoria impacted domestic travel, as did the five day lockdown in Western Australia. Melbourne Airport CEO Lyell Strambi stated: “Even with the vaccine commencing in February, we expect that there will continue to be small outbreaks across the country…it is time to start having a different conversation about how we manage borders as a nation”.
