Australia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack, and Australia's Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Dan Tehan stated (29-Apr-2021) more than 663,000 half price airfares have been sold as part of the Australian Government's AUD1.2 billion (USD933.3 million) tourism support package. More than 82% of the tickets sold in one month, with demand remaining "strong". Mr McCormack and Mr Tehan said: "We continue to encourage Australians to take advantage of this opportunity to book a cheap holiday, because for every dollar spent on a flight 10 more will be spent on the ground", adding "we will continue to make the necessary investments to support jobs across Australia".
