New Zealand Director General of Health: Pacific Island bubble 'can be managed well'

29 May, 2020

New Zealand's Director General of Health Ashely Bloomfield said he believes risks related to a trans Tasman Bubble with Pacific Island nations "can be managed well, especially if we've got countries that have got good testing in place and we know that they haven't got any cases and the arrangements can be put in place for travel to and fro" (RNZ, 28-May-2020). Mr Bloomfield noted many Island nations "will be interested in seeing if an arrangement can be put in place because their economies are so reliant on tourism".
