Air Canada and United Airlines announce transborder joint business agreement

Air Canada and United Airlines announced (22-Jul-2022) a joint business agreement serving the Canada-US transborder market, giving travellers expanded flight options and enhanced schedules. Subject to regulatory approval, the agreement will allow the carriers to:

  • Coordinate networks and schedules, providing travellers more choice and access to each carrier's seat inventory;
  • Enhance codesharing on transborder flights. The carriers anticipate customers will be able to connect to 46 codeshare destinations with over 400 daily frequencies in 2022, with opportunities to add additional domestic codeshare routes;
  • Sell seats on each other's transborder flights and share revenue on flights between hub markets;
  • Align customer policies for greater consistency and enable seamless provision onboard products;
  • Establish airport co-locations;
  • Allow the carriers to collaborate to advance sustainability objectives;
