Air New Zealand confirmed it is considering both Airbus and Boeing aircraft types for its upcoming long haul fleet replacement order, which will be used to phase out its 777-200ER fleet in "the first half of the next decade" (Stuff, 11-Feb-2018). The carrier confirmed the A350-1000 is one of the aircraft under consideration. According to the CAPA Fleet Database, Air New Zealand's widebody fleet comprises eight 777-200ERs, seven 777-300ERs and 11 787-9s, with another three on order.
