Air New Zealand pax up 2% in Jul-2019, load factor improve slightly to 84%

Air New Zealand reported (20-Aug-2019) the following traffic highlights for Jul-2019:

  • Passengers*: 1.4 million, +2.4% year-on-year;
    • Short haul: 1.2 million, +1.7%;
      • Domestic: 875,000, +1.7%;
      • Tasman/Pacific: 350,000, +1.8%;
    • Long haul: 178,000, +7.5%;
      • Americas/UK: 105,000, +1.9%;
      • Asia/Japan/Singapore: 74,000, +16.6%;
  • Passenger load factor: 83.9%, +0.4ppt;
    • Short haul: 80.5%, -0.4ppt;
      • Domestic: 81.9%, +0.9ppt;
      • Tasman/Pacific: 79.9%, -0.9ppt;
    • Long haul: 86.9%, +0.9ppt;
      • Americas/UK: 88.5%, +0.8ppt;
      • Asia/Japan/Singapore: 84.2%, +1.3ppts;
  • Year-to-date RASK: -1.3%;

*The adjustment takes into account the difference in days for the accounting month of Jul-2018 (29 days) compared with Jul-2019 (28 days). This is because Air New Zealand operates on a 4,4,5 accounting calendar but closes the annual accounts on 30 June.
