Airbus is reportedly examining Thailand as a future aerospace production centre, building on its recent MRO JV with Thai Airways International at Utapao International Airport and a training agreement with the Civil Aviation Training Centre (The Nation, 18-Feb-2019). The parties are still finalising details of the agreement, which will include line and heavy MRO for widebody aircraft, specalised composites facilities and training. Airbus head of marketing for Asia and North America Joost van der Heijden said the JV with Thai Airways is "about the opportunity to innovate and to lead the way in the aerospace sector".
