American Airlines Group expects 60% drop in 3Q2020 capacity, plans to exit 19 international services

24 July, 2020

American Airlines Group reported (23-Jul-2020) it expects capacity to decrease approximately 60% year-on-year in 3Q2020. Long haul international capacity for summer 2021 is now expected to decline 25%, and American will exit 19 international services from six hubs, so as to readjust its international network for future demand. The company saw improved demand and load factors since Apr-2020, though still significantly below 2019 levels, but has since experienced weakened demand in Jul-2020 due to an increase in COVID-19 cases and new travel restrictions.
