Australian Government launches fuel security review

8 May, 2018

Australia's Minister for the Environment and Energy Josh Frydenberg stated (07-May-2018) the Australian Government will assess Australia's liquid fuel security. The assessment will look at how fuel is supplied and used in Australia, including the nation's resilience to withstand disruptions both overseas and in Australia. Liquid fuel, such as petrol, diesel and jet fuel, accounts for 98% of transport needs. The statement comes following reports that Australia has only 19 days of aviation fuel remaining (Fairfax, 07-May-2018). Mr Frydenberg however noted that the review should "not be construed as Australia having a fuel security problem". [more - original PR]
