Avolon CEO: More airlines 'suffering cash flow challenges around fuel'

Avolon CEO Domhnal Slattery said an increasing number of airlines are "suffering cash flow challenges around fuel because they kind of got addicted to cheap fuel for a number of years" (Irish Independent, 31-Oct-2018). Avolon expects oil prices will continue to rise. According to Mr Slattery, the chief concern for the lessor is a potential increase in the number of defaults on lease payments by airlines, due to headwinds including oil prices and exchange rate volatility.
