BITRE: Australian international pax down 95.5% in Nov-2021, compared to Nov-2019

Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) reported (20-Jan-2022) the following international traffic highlights for Nov-2021:

  • Passengers: 155,796, -95.5% compared to Nov-2019;
  • Available seats: 627,002, -85.7%;
  • Cargo: 89,909 tonnes, -11.9%;
  • Flights: 4489, -73.4%;
  • Aircraft movements: 4843, -72.0%;
  • Top five international carried:
    • Share of passengers carried:
      • Singapore Airlines: 20.4%, +8.3pp year-on-year;
      • Emirates: 17.9%, +6.8pp;
      • Qatar Airways: 12.3%, -0.6pp;
      • Qantas Airways: 7.0%, +5.9pp;
      • Etihad Airways: 7.0%, +4.6pp;
    • Share of cargo carried:
      • Singapore Airlines: 13.9%, +2.5pp year-on-year;
      • Cathay Pacific Airways: 8.5%, +1.8pp;
      • Qantas Airways: 7.9%, +0.2pp;
      • FedEx: 7.4%, -2.7%
      • Kalitta Air: 6.7%, +3.5pp.

LCC Scoot accounted for 2.5% of total international passenger traffic to/from Australia in Nov-2021. The LCC share in 2020 was 2.9% and in 2019 was 14.7%. [more - original PR]
