Canberra Airport outlines significant airfreight and express opportunities

29 August, 2019

Canberra Airport, in its preliminary draft master plan for 2020 to 2040, outlined (28-Aug-2019) the opportunity for the establishment of an overnight express freight hub and foreshadowed the commencement of dedicated international freighter services. The airport stated the opportunity arising from international passenger services will broaden the airfreight capability for government and business operations and provide a new driver for growth of freight hub operations. Canberra Airport noted ongoing curfew restrictions at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport are expected to delivery "substantial" opportunities for airfreight at Canberra Airport over at least the next 10 years, until Western Sydney International Airport is operational. Canberra Airport also stated it is well positioned to accept and distribute airfreight within southern New South Wales. [more - original PR]
