Changes to visa requirements for New Zealand

5 August, 2019 announced (05-Aug-2019) New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) will be mandatory for visitors from visa waiver countries, effective 01-Oct-2019. The NZeTA aims to "screen travellers for border and immigration risks offshore before they travel to New Zealand" with passengers advised to allow 72 hours for their NZeTA request to be processed. Immigration New Zealand is "working closely with tourism and travel sector partners" to ensure passengers are aware of new legislation changes, as well as launching a new marketing campaign to create additional awareness. The NZeTA will cost NZD9 (USD5.9) via the mobile app and NZD12 (USD7.9) through the website. At the same time that a visitor requests their NZeTA, they will be charged the new NZD35.00 (USD23) International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) that is expected to generate NZD450 million (USD295 million) over five years.
