China Airlines generating enough revenue from cargo to sustain business

24 June, 2020

China Airlines chairman Hsieh Shih-chien stated the carrier's 18 freighters have become its pillar, generating enough revenue to sustain its business and "avoid layoffs" (Taipei Times, 24-Jun-2020). Cumulative cargo revenue increased 60% year-on-year to TWD27.6 billion (USD932.3 million) in the first five months of 2020, and the carrier has received more orders at higher freight rates since the coronavirus pandemic began, according to Mr Hsieh.
