Delta expands optional facial recognition boarding test to Detroit Airport

20 July, 2018

Delta Air Lines announced (19-Jul-2018) plans to launch the "first biometric boarding test" at Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Jul-2018 in partnership with US Customs and Border Protection, following several years of pilot projects at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and New York John F Kennedy International Airport. Customers departing through gate A36 can choose to board the aircraft using facial recognition technology. This test is currently underway on one daily service, where customers also experience Delta's A350 and the new Delta One suite. The airline will offer the technology as an option for all international flights daily departing from that gate. [more - original PR]
