Deutsche Bahn 'to challenge the car and the aircraft even more than before': CEO

Deutsche Bahn (DB) CEO Richard Lutz said the company is undergoing discussions to expand its existing intercity express (ICE4) high speed rail fleet (Berliner-Zeitung, 20-Apr-2018). "We want to challenge the car and the aircraft even more than before and will present a concept in early summer", Mr Lutz said. Germany's CDU and SPD, in a coalition agreement, expects DB to double long distance passenger traffic to 280 million by 2030.
