Government of Western Australia announces tourism increase due to regional fares

Western Australia Government announced (05-Aug-2019) regional fares have increased visitation into regional Western Australia. Details include:

  • Passengers on the Monkey Mia route have increased 55% year-on-year due to regional fares, with Canarvon increasing 20% following the introduction of Regional Express (Rex) fares. Albany and Esperance air routes reached a record high traffic of 61,500 and nearly 51,000 respectively;
  • Skippers Aviation sold 1500 community fares since Sep-2018;
  • Tourism in the 'Golden Outback' increased 3.9%, South west increased 14% with the Coal Coast increasing 5.7%. [more - original PR]
