IATA: Fares in Europe down 67% since 1996

IATA regional VP Europe Rafael Schvartzman, at UATP Airline Distribution 2018, commented (21-Mar-2018) on the challenges facing airlines in Europe, stating: "In Europe, since 1996, fares are down by 67%, but charges have not come down by the same amount. It is highly competitive. Airspace in Europe is heavily inefficient. There is a lot to be done if we want to cope with the growth". He added: "There is more consolidation to come in Europe, but not at speed."
