India DGCA requests airlines increase domestic capacity to curb rising fares

10 April, 2019

India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) reportedly requested Indian airlines implement an "immediate and medium term plan" to increase domestic seat capacity, with the aim of curbing fare increases driven by the cancellation of Jet Airways services (The Hindu/Live Mint/Financial Express/Economic Times/The Hindu BusinessLine/Devdiscourse, 09-Apr-2019). The DGCA asked airlines to launch new and increase frequency on existing domestic services, including supplementary services beyond those approved for the summer 2019 schedule.
