Korean Air Lines shareholder confirms interest in acquiring stake in rival carrier Asiana Airlines

Korea Corporate Governance Improvement Fund (KCGI) CEO Kang Sung-boo confirmed the group is interested in acquiring a majority stake in Asiana Airlines (London South East/Reuters, 19-Aug-2019). Mr Kang said KCGI is also in discussions with both local and overseas investors to form a consortium to bid for Asiana Airlines. KCGI is currently the second largest shareholder in Korean Air Lines' parent company Hanjin KAL.
