Lufthansa Group (LHG) spokesperson Florian Gränzdörffer reported commercial responsibility for Eurowings long haul services will be transferred to Lufthansa Group network management "in the coming months" (aviation24.be, 12-Aug-2019). For Eurowings' long haul operations from Munich and Frankfurt, the change will occur as of winter 2019/2020, while Duesseldorf operations will be transferred from 01-Jan-2020. Specifically, Brussels Airlines will operate long haul/intercontinental operations at Duesseldorf on behalf of Eurowings. Mr Gränzdörffer said the group aims to "play a leading and shaping role in Europe in the growing market for long haul tourism". He added Lufthansa's strengths will be combined with "more cost effective flight operations" of Eurowings to offer joint private travel customers improved prices and include further destinations.
