Loyalty Islands President Jacques Lalie proposed the launch of regional low cost carrier, Air Oceania, to boost tourism to the region (Douglas Digital Daily, 03-Nov-2019). Mr Lalie reported he is in negotiations with Airbus and plans to operate services to Vanuatu, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia and French Polynesia, with plans to enter an agreement with InterContinental for the carrier to operate to Lifou, Mare and Ouvea resorts. Mr Lalie said the LCC does not intend to pose direct competition to Air Caledonie or Aircalin, and aims to increase tourism to the Loyalty Islands.
