Philippines Govt reinstates ban on overseas leisure travel

24 July, 2020

Philippines' Government reinstated a ban on international leisure travel, due to insurance companies rejecting coverage for Filipinos seeking to leave the country (Business World Online, 23-Jul-2020). Presidential spokesman Harry Roque reported only one insurance company agreed to cover accommodation and rebooking expenses of travellers with cancelled trips. Government lifted the ban on non essential travel at the start of Jul-2020 as part of an ongoing plan to boost the economy and relax restrictions.
