South Korea MOLIT to strengthen safety inspections ahead of summer 2019

22 April, 2019

South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) said it will strengthen safety inspections in the lead up to the summer holiday season (Korea JoongAng Daily, 22-Apr-2019). The Ministry said it will inspect all 400 aircraft owned by the nine local airlines by implementing safety measures such as inspections for aircraft defects by the end of May-2019. The Ministry also plans to restrict aircraft more than 20 years old, conduct special tests on pilots with less than one year experience, expand inspections on foreign maintenance companies for local carriers and classify them by quality.
