StarLux Airlines to operate to second tier Asian cities until mid 2021

3 October, 2019

StarLux Airlines chairman Chang Kuo-wei said the carrier will concentrate on operating services from Taiwan to second tier cities in Asia until mid 2021 to avoid competing directly with China Airlines and EVA Air to large cities (Taipei Times, 03-Oct-2019). He said the carrier will commence services to destinations such as Macau, Penang and Da Nang to remain competitive, adding it would not operate to first tier cities in Asia until delivery of five A350-900s in 2021. He also said the carrier will not operate to Japan until 2020, because Southeast Asia remains the biggest market for transfer traffic.
