US DoT allocates three weekly Cape Town frequencies each to Delta Air Lines and United Airlines

19 July, 2022

US Department of Transportation (DoT) tentatively allocated (14-Jul-2022) three weekly frequencies each to Delta Air Lines and United Airlines for proposed scheduled services to Cape Town. As previously reported by CAPA, Delta applied to launch Atlanta-Cape Town service from Nov-2022, while United requested to operate Washington Dulles-Cape Town service. At the time of each airline application, DoT only had four weekly US-South Africa frequencies available for allocation, however the South African Government has since assured two additional frequencies. If the decision is made final, services are required to launch within 90 days of 17-Nov-2022. [more - original PR]
