VDR: 21.5% of German business travellers report no internal restrictions for business travel

Association of German Travel Management (VDR), via its official website, published (14-Jan-2022) monthly survey results of its business travel members and organisations. The survey includes the following highlights:

  • In response to whether their company currently imposes restrictions on business travel related to the reason for travel:
    • 77.2% reported business trips are only allowed in justified exceptional cases;
    • 21.5% reported business trips are allowed, without restrictions;
  • In response to whether their company currently has travel destination restrictions;
    • 10.7% reported only business trips within Germany are allowed;
    • 14.1% reported business trips within Germany and other European countries are allowed;
    • 75.6% reported business travel is permitted worldwide;
  • In response to how long respondents thought their company's internal travel restrictions will last:
    • 16.4% stated by the end of 1Q2022;
    • 13.1% stated by the end of 1H2022;
    • 70.5% stated they will decide on easing the restrictions with short notice, depending on the pandemic situation;
  • In response to what percentage of business trips are currently taking place in their company compared to the annual average in 2019:
    • 15.4% stated up to 5%;
    • 28.2% stated up to 10%;
    • 35.9% stated up to 25%;
    • 14.1% stated up to 50%
    • 6.4% stated more than 50%.
