VDR: 90.8% of German companies allowing business travel 'without restrictions'

Germany's Association of German Travel Management (VDR), via its official website, published (Aug-2022) the following survey results of its business travel members for Aug-2022:

  • In response to whether their company currently imposes restrictions on business travel related to the reason for travel:
    • No respondents indicated business trips are banned without exception;
    • 7.9% reported business trips are only allowed in justified exceptional cases;
    • 90.8% reported business trips are allowed without restrictions;
  • In response to what percentage of business trips are currently taking place in their company compared to the annual average in 2019:
    • 2.8% stated up to 10%;
    • 9.7% stated up to 25%;
    • 36.1% stated up to 50%
    • 50% stated more than 50%;
  • In response to how the number of business trips taken in their company will change compared to the pre-pandemic period:
    • 14.1% expect business travel will return to pre-pandemic levels, up from 8.8% in the previous survey in Apr-2022;
    • 25.4% expect a decrease of up to 10%;
    • 46.5% expect a decrease of up to 30%;
    • 9.9% expect a decrease of up to 50%;
    • 4.2% expect a decrease of over 50%.
