OAG: China's domestic shut down does not bode well for other Asian countries

OAG reported (19-Aug-2021) available seat capacity has recovered slightly in China, following a dip of almost a third at the beginning of Aug-2021, when travel was shut down across much of the country in response to a new outbreak of COVID-19. Capacity, which had been running as high as 20% above pre crisis levels, is still down 24% compared to the same week in 2019. OAG stated China's decision to shut down much of its domestic aviation market "does not bode well for other Asian countries battling to shift from crisis to recovery mode", as many of these markets depend on Chinese outbound travel for their international markets.
