OAG: Global capacity shrinks 1.4%, carriers offering 62.3 million seats

OAG reported (12-Apr-2021) global scheduled seat capacity planned for the week commencing 12-Apr-2021 fell by 1.4% week to week, wiping out the previous week’s growth. Capacity plans fell in two thirds of the regional markets, with the strongest fall in Western Europe (-6.4%) due to spikes in COVID-19 transmission in some countries. The decline was slightly ahead of Lower South America and more specifically Brazil, where there were 6.1% fewer seats week on week. Global capacity remains 41% below pre-coronavirus levels, at 62.3 million seats. [more – original PR]
