11 September, 2019

Pegasus Airlines' CEO Mehmet Nane said the carrier achieved some "global firsts" since the launch of the technology transformation programme in 2018 (The European, 10-Sep-2019). Mr Nane noted more is in the pipeline, with projects to incorporate technology including Internet of Things, big data and blockchain. Mr Nane added Pegasus Airlines plans to provide domestic passengers departing from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport with the opportunity to travel using only ID cards or passports by the end of 2019, as a result of the launch of the chip ID project in Feb-2019. The carrier also plans to improve baggage drop off technology at the airport. In 2018, Mr Nane said the carrier aims to be ranked among the top 10 airlines globally with regard to technology use, as previously reported by CAPA.
