Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce said the carrier has received "ETOPS approval for the 787s to fly direct from Sydney to Jo'burg, in fact we've already done a few repatriation flights that way" (Executive Traveller, 01-Feb-2021). Mr Joyce said he believes the carrier may launch Perth-Johannesburg services "if we can resolve our dispute with Perth Airport", adding: "We think that will be very successful".
