This event, hosted at Crown Perth, a resort and casino located in Burswood, Western Australia, had a full day packed with aviation and corporate travel content. Here's some insights and observations from delegates during the event.

Perth needs to overcome its image as an 'isolated city'
Perth Airport CEO Kevin Brown stated Perth needs to overcome its image as an "isolated city". Perth is located "on the doorstep to Asia, a region that contains 60% of the world's population within a 10 hour flight to Perth", according to Mr Brown. He noted that Perth is "closer than Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne to 17 of Asia's 20 most popular cities", which "doesn't suggest any isolation". He added that Perth faces "a constant challenge" to attract tourism because "there's strong competition across Australia and from international destinations".

Western Australia offers multiple experiences as it focuses on high value tourists and FIT visitors
Tourism WA chairman Nathan Harding stated Western Australia's focus from an international point of view is on "high value tourists and FIT visitors". He said the economic benefits of high value tourists are higher than group tours, "which contribute to over tourism". According to Mr Harding, Western Australia "offers multiple experiences" in one place compared to other parts of Australia, which offer a "mono experience". However, he described Western Australia's brand position and narrative as not being "clear and sharp" and sees an opportunity to redefine it so that it's "bold and disruptive" and "defines us" and grants more clarity.

ANA Tokyo Narita-Perth service to initially generate mainly inbound traffic to Japan
All Nippon Airways (ANA) MD Australia and Oceania Ryo Sadayuki projected the airline's Tokyo Narita-Perth service will initially generate more inbound traffic to Japan rather than outbound traffic.

NDC offer new language that enables 'more flexibility and personalisation'
Wesfarmers group procurement manager Stephen Turner stated the IATA New Distribution Capability (NDC) is "a new type of software language" that allows "more flexibility and personalisation" and is able to do things that are 'clunky' through "traditional booking systems".

Star Alliance: Alliances are more relevant now than ever
Star Alliance coordinator Australia Gordon Young stated alliances are "more and more relevant now than ever", as an alliance allows members to be secure in the quality of their customer service and network.

ATPI: Most Central and West African countries do not accept credit cards
ATPI MD Africa Pam Kitching stated most Central and West African countries, including Angola and certain parts of Nigeria, do not except credit cards.
