Pittsburgh International Airport, via its official website and Twitter account, announced (11-Oct-2021) plans to break ground on its USD1.4 billion Terminal Modernisation Programme by 17-Oct-2021. Work will involve development of a 700,000sqft terminal building including ticketing, security checkpoints and baggage claim; as well as construction of an adjacent complex with a 3300 space parking garage, rental car facilities and new roadways. The terminal is expected to open in 2025, generate USD2.5 billion for the local economy, add 14,000 local jobs and create USD27 million in local tax revenue.
