Qantas Airways confirms services to Norfolk Island

23 August, 2021

Qantas Airways confirmed (19-Aug-2021) it will extend its Norfolk Island service until 30-Jun-2022 to maintain critical passenger freight connectivity with the Australian Mainland. The airline has been operating flights to Norfolk Island since late Jan-2021, as part of a contract with Australia's Government, following the suspension of Air New Zealand services between Norfolk Island and Australia due to coronavirus travel restrictions. An extension of the contract will see Qantas continue to operate up to six flights times weekly, with three frequencies from Sydney and three from Brisbane. The services will be operated by Boeing 737 equipment, offering 2000 seats across the routes per week as well as belly space for freight. Services from Sydney will be reduced over the next few weeks while current travel restrictions are in place. [more - original PR]
