Qantas Group to bring back five A380s 12 months ahead of schedule for US and UK routes

26 August, 2021

Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce announced (26-Aug-2021) the group plans to bring back five A380s into service approximately 12 months ahead of schedule, "from mid-2022 onwards - to fly to the UK and US". Mr Joyce said the US and UK were key markets for Qantas prior to coronavirus, "and given how well they have recovered, we expect travel demand on these routes to be strong enough for the A380". The group holds the flexibility to bring back an additional five A380s by early 2024, depending on demand. Mr Joyce stated: "The remaining two will be retired, because they will be surplus to requirements". [more - original PR]
