Queensland Government announces Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport based dedicated quarantine facility

Queensland's Government announced (26-Aug-2021) a dedicated regional quarantine facility will be built at Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport, under a joint agreement between the Queensland Government and the landowner, Wagner Corporation. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said there was an urgent need for more fit-for-purpose quarantine facilities throughout Australia. The building will be a 1000 bed dedicated facility "near Wellcamp airport that will greatly reduce reliance on hotel quarantine". Wagner Corporation will build the facility, with the accommodation modules to be manufactured in Queensland. The Queensland Government will operate the facility once it is operational.
