Queensland Govt: Virgin Australia's new services to provide USD40m into tourism businesses

Queensland's Government stated (13-Oct-2021) Virgin Australia's new permanent and seasonal services to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast will support almost 420 jobs, and provide AUD53.7 million (USD39.7 million) into tourism businesses. Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk stated: "We're working with airlines to bring back flights from destinations that are COVID safe", adding "We've partnered with Virgin to land new seasonal air services on the Gold Coast from Launceston and Hobart, three and four times a week, respectively", as well as a partnership for the new Cairns-Gold Coast service.
