Rex secures Boeing 737-800s for domestic operations

Regional Express (Rex) entered (30-Sep-2020) LoI's with two lessors for the lease of six Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The first Boeing 737-800 will be delivered on 01-Nov-2020 with the remaining five aircraft being phased in over the following four months in readiness for the launch of Rex's domestic jet operations. Rex deputy chairman John Sharp said: "Three of these aircraft will be deployed in the first phase of our launch on 01-Mar-2021 on the Sydney-Melbourne route, with another two aircraft beginning service before Easter". Mr Sharp added Rex plans to increase its fleet in line "with the return of passenger demand and hopes to see its fleet of 737-800 NGs reach ten by year end". Mr Sharp said the carrier's preparations for domestic jet services are "progressing very well and on schedule" with hopes to obtain regulatory approval by Dec-2020, and plans for advanced ticket sales for Dec-2020.
