San Diego County Regional Airport Authority approved an operating budget of just under USD300 million for FY2022 and a five year, USD3.6 billion capital project spending plan which will facilitate commencement of San Diego International Airport's Terminal 1 redevelopment project (San Diego Union-Tribune, 04-Jun-2021). Authority CFO Scott Brickner said most of the project will be debt financed, with airline partners "committed to pay a large portion of the annual debt service". The project is expected to commence in 1Q2022 and will involve the addition of 11 new gates to the terminal's existing 19.
