Solomon Islands looks for 100% domestic vaccine coverage prior to border openings

    Solomon Islands‘ Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare stated: “For our economy to recover, we will need to reopen our borders to international trade and international travel at some stage” (Solomon Times, 30-Mar-2021). Mr Sogavare added that to reopen the borders the country must have 100% coverage of vaccination for citizens over 18, pending advice from the World Health Organisation on vaccines for those under 18 years.
