Sweden’s Government to charge higher takeoff and landing costs for more polluting aircraft

Sweden‘s Government plans to charge airlines additional takeoff and landing costs if the aircraft pollutes more (The Guardian, 23-Apr-2021). The Ministry of Infrastructure stated: “This means that takeoff and landing fees can be more significant when a plane’s climate impact is higher and they can be reduced when the climate impact is lower”. The measure is set to come into effect from Jul-2021, but first must be approved by parliament.
