Ted Stevens Anchorage International closing in on 2019 pre-pandemic passenger traffic in summer 2021

Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport is expected to handle around 30,000 passengers during the Memorial Day weekend travel period (Anchorage Daily News, 28-May-2021). Airport manager Jim Szczesniak stated: “Pretty much after this point, it’s going to be busy weekends for the remainder of the summer… what we’re concentrating on right now is getting the facilities up to meet the crowds that we’re going to see”. Airport officials are expecting passenger numbers during summer 2021 to approach 2019 pre-pandemic levels.
