Thai Airways expecting to reduce workforce by 6000 employees in 2021

Thai Airways announced (02-Mar-2021) planners have submitted a rehabilitation plan to the official receiver, who will determine and inform the date of a creditors meeting. Thai Airways acting president Chansin Treenuchagron reported the carrier plans to reduce its workforce by 6000 employees by the end of 2021, aiming to maintain 13,000 to 15,000 employees by 2025 (Reuters, 02-Mar-2021). The carrier currently employees 19,500 full time staff, down from 28,000 in 2019. Mr Treenuchagron added Thai also plans to reduce its fleet size to 86 aircraft by 2025 and halve the number of different aircraft and engines types to reduce costs. [more - original PR]
