'There is hardly any gold left in Vienna' following' post airberlin 'gold rush': Austrian CEO

8 June, 2019

Austrian Airlines CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech said the Vienna market "was kind of like a gold rush mood" after the insolvencies of airberlin and NIKI (aerotelegraph.com, 08-Jun-2019). "Many had the idea to fill these gaps... only now there is hardly any gold left in Vienna", he continued. Mr von Hoensbroech argued Austrian still has a "tremendous advantage" over LCC competition in Vienna due to it having a larger network and its ability to serve more transit traffic.
