Tourism NZ: Top six tourism markets contribute 70% of tourism spending

Tourism New Zealand CEO Stephen England-Hall reported (22-Feb-2018) six key visitor markets now make up more than two-thirds of total international visitor spend in New Zealand, with collective spending from Australia, China, US, UK, Germany and Japan reaching more than NZD7.12 billion (USD5.2 billion). Mr England-Hall said the results from the latest International Visitor Survey (IVS) show New Zealand is targeting its key markets well. Key IVS highlights include:

  • Australia: NZD2.6 billion (USD1.9 billion), +3% year-on-year;
