Tourism & Transport Forum outlines coronavirus impact on Australia's economy

Tourism & Transport Forum (TTF) outlined (Nov-2020) the following economic impacts of coronavirus on Australia:

  • Up to 700,000 fewer monthly visitors as of Sep-2020;
  • Average monthly decrease in overnight domestic tourism spend of AUD3.6 billion (USD2.65 billion) per month, as of Sep-2020;
  • Average monthly decrease in domestic overnight visitation of 6.27 million;
  • 470,000 estimated total direct tourism job losses as of Sep-2020;
  • AUD18.8 billion (USD13.8 billion) estimated lost wages and salaries from direct tourism job losses, over the course of 2020;
