Townsville Airport announces terminal works

8 September, 2021

Townsville Airport stated (08-Sep-2021) key upgrades at the terminal are moving forward, despite the ongoing impacts of travel restrictions. The first project involving the security screening zone, check in areas and adjoining retail space, has been awarded to local company Core Developments NQ following an extensive tender process. With a AUD9.2 million (USD6.8 million) Government grant, the project will create 17 construction jobs directly and take about six months to complete. The project includes reconfiguration of the security screening area to make it about three times larger and to accommodate the Government's enhanced security screening requirements. The second project is a AUD6.4 million (USD4.7 million) water and sewer upgrade, and will be funded by the airport drawing down on a Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility loan. These works are due to start outside the terminal in Sep-2021. [more - original PR]
