TUS Airways to relaunch in early 2021 as Ela Air Cyprus

17 September, 2020

TUS Airways CEO Andrew Pyne confirmed (17-Sep-2020) plans to relaunch the Larnaca based airline as a regional carrier in early 2021 following the expected infusion of fresh capital later in 2020. The airline, to be named Ela Air Cyprus, will focus on serving business and leisure routes in the eastern Mediterranean, including points in Israel and Greece with four to six Bombardier Q400s. The carrier is in advanced discussions with Cypriot Government officials for an infusion of EUR800,000 to support the carrier's resumption of services and unlock a "significant investment from a private third party investor", according to Mr Pyne. Ela Air will utilise TUS Airways' existing AOC and aims to deliver connectivity to the travel and tourism dependent economy. Over 40% of the island nation's employment is tied to the travel and tourism sector.
